I believe my wife’s uterus has the ability to change the weather. No really, let me explain. When Faye was born, she had to be induced so that we could evacuate in time to escape a hurricane in Texas. Sonia brought some crazy winter weather when we drove to Philadelphia. Now Gavin comes out and Eastern North Carolina sees the worst winter storm in a long time. My children have never retaliated against any time-outs with tornadoes or extreme wind shear, so I have to assume it has to do with my wife’s lady parts. I’ve never fully understood them anyway, and they seem to have a mind of their own, which is why I’m horribly terrified of them.
Enough science and technology… The plan for today was to pick up Faye and Grandma Susan for their first visit with Gavin. Then I take Faye back home for a nap and some quality time and come back later for one last visit and to bring Susan home. Well, about half way through my drive home with Faye, the winter storm went into full effect and I realized my decision to drive at all was a poor one. After creeping along the highway at 25MPH and passing several multi-car pileups, we made it home and I delivered the news that Susan would be spending the night at the hospital. For you northerners, you have to realize that everything gets shut down in this part of NC for 1/2 inch of snow since there is little if any snow clearing equipment available. So 4+ inches and visibility less than 1/2 mile is just shy of the apocalypse here.
The good news is that Faye and I had a giant white playground all around us at home. Unfortunately, she was less thrilled about sledding and building snowmen than I was. Some of that had to do with the lack of snow gear available for her. With some bribes and mild coercion, I dragged her out in it and we managed t have some fun between the terror. Photos of the whole extravaganza are in the gallery.
If all goes well, the weather will clear by tomorrow afternoon and Shannon and Gavin can come home on schedule.

That first sentence had me cracking up!
CONGRATULATIONS, Rubins! Josh and I are so excited for you to welcome Gavin to the world.
Tell Faye Uncle Ryan loves her snowman! I will upload our photos today. Drive carefully today. Give Gavin and Faye a big kiss from us.
Too funny, but I think you know those lady parts very well; the evidence is producing three adorable children. Haha. Gavin is so cute and Faye looks so cute with him. Shannon, you look beautiful as always.
