I wanted to post a note to let everyone know Sonia is still healing, and doing okay.  Jason and I are still taking it a day at a time, and not at the computer often to write.

The doctors seem pleased with Sonia and are planning to take out her remaining chest tube tomorrow.  It is a very good thing in its own right, but also one less source for infection.  They are also trying to take her off of the ventilator (breathing tube) soon.  They tried to ween her a bit too quickly today and she did not do well.  They went back up a notch but are still moving towards weening her.  Sonia has also started to eat, although really just enough to coat her stomach.  They are starting to increase the food, however, which is also a good sign.

Sonia continues to be mostly sedated during this stage of her recovery.  They can tell when she is in pain and try their best to keep her comfortable.  Although they are still tweaking things, I can tell the doctors are pleased overall with her recovery thus far.

Jason and I are also trying to recover.  I went for a nice fast run today to get rid of some anger.  I told Jason I run faster the angrier and more frustrated I am.  He prayed I could slow down soon.  :)   I am still planning to run the Philly Half Marathon on the 16th of this month and the Marine Corps marathon next month.  I don’t know how, but I plan to do it.

We want to thank you all again for all of your support.  If it takes us a while to respond, please know we may just need some time for ourselves.  We do, however, read every comment and every email and are thankful for you all.
