The family packed into the car and made the miserable drive to Philadelphia this past weekend. For some reason, we have the worst luck with weather whenever we drive to my dad’s place in Philly. We caught the meat of the winter storm that came through the northeast and wound up finishing the drive doing 20MPH on the interstate slipping and sliding our way through the snow and ice.
Thank God we made it there safe and sound. It actually worked out well for Faye, as she had never seen snow before. She was quite entertained the next morning when we took her out in the park to play in the funny white stuff. I flew back the next day and am back in North Carolina. Shannon is settled in at my dad’s place and will be visiting doctors all this week. I’ll be back up closer to the delivery date.
Shannon had a visit with the surgeon today, and like most of our visits with doctors the news was mixed. The bottom line is that there are many things that cannot be diagnosed in the womb. When the baby is born, she will be subject to what seems like hundreds of tests to determine if she will be a candidate for surgery. We have always been aware of this, but it can be difficult to hear the bad possiblilities along with the good ones. I’ll let Shannon post more details if she so desires, since she was the one in the doctor’s office. We are still trying to stay as positive as possible.
